Amherst Ohio is known as one of the safest cities in Lorain County, and the primary reason why we have such a low crime rate and safe streets is the great job that the Amherst Police Department does for our citizens.
The Amherst Police Station is located on North Lake Street in a modern, professional, well-staffed facility. It was previously located at Amherst City Hall.
Amherst residents can visit the police station to get police reports, but please keep in mind that it can take up to a week for the reports to be inputted in the computer system. The police reports are free, unless they are longer than 19 pages.
You can also get your fingerprints taken at the police station for any reason, as long as you are an Amherst resident.
