Amherst Ohio is proud of its volunteer fire department, and it’s one of the things that makes our community so safe and such a great place to raise a family. The Amherst fire station is located on Church Street, and the only full-time position on staff is the Fire Chief. The rest are part-time volunteer firefighters. 35 firefighters staff the Amherst Ohio fire department.
The Amherst fire department handles emergencies in the City of Amherst as well as Amherst Township. They have a medical response team, heavy rescue team and dive team on staff, as well as fire inspectors who make sure that local fire code is followed by Amherst businesses and schools.
